IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

For the first time in 13 years, the Iowa City Airport will host a free air show.

The weekend event will kick off Saturday, June 28 at the Iowa City Municipal Airport featuring high-intensity aerobatic performers, aerial demonstrations, various aircrafts on display, and many other children’s activities.

Sunday, June 29 a “Young Eagles” event will offer free airplane rides for kids 8 to 17 years old.

Organizers plan to open the gates for the Fly Iowa Aviation Celebration at 8:00 a.m. Saturday for community members to purchase breakfast and get a head-start on viewing the various displays and hourly aircraft demonstrations leading up to the air show.
