Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The Waverly-Shell Rock bats came on strong late, as the Go-Hawks defeated Anamosa 8-1 at Riverfront Stadium.

WSR would fall behind early, however. Sean Westendorf gave up an unearned run in the second. Daniel Carpenter's grounder was booted at first allowing the Blue Raiders lone run to score.

The Go-Hawks came back in the 4th as Westendorf helped out his own cause lining a 2 RBI single in to left center. James Heine extended the lead with an RBI base hit to left in the 5th. Waverly-Shell Rock capped the night scoring 5 more times over the final 2 innings.

Sophomore Dalton Graven came in to close the game, striking out the side in the bottom of the 7th.

The win made 4 straight for WSR, as the Go-Hawks moved to 18-1 on the season.
