Nursing facility pays $500,000 for settlement

LAKE VIEW (KWWL) -

An Iowa nursing facility agreed to pay $500,000 to settle a civil lawsuit.

U.S. Attorney Kevin W. Techau says Blackhawk Lifecare Center in Lake View, Iowa, agreed to pay $500,000 to resolve allegations that the facility submitted or caused improper Medicare claims to the government.

Techau says those claims were for therapy services, and no patients appeared to be harmed or in jeopardy. As part of the settlement, Blackhawk did not admit to any liability or wrongdoing.
