Joshua Beebe prepares to visit 11 countries in 11 months

INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) - Joshua Beebe is going to spend many nights during the next 11 months in a two-person tent. He leaves June 30th to serve people in 11 countries on four continents.

It's called "The World Race," organized through Adventures and Missions in Gainesville, Georgia.

"It might be teaching English in schools, it might be helping with efforts against human trafficking, I might be doing manual labor. Pretty much what the greatest need is in that area," said Joshua Beebe.

In 2012, Beebe went to Tanzania. He said that trip inspired him to continue finding ways to serve others, which is not surprising to his pastor, Bob Solon, with Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence.

"I think one of the best things people can do is get out of their comfort zone, and once you step out of your culture and of your comfort zone suddenly you realize the world is a really big place," said Pastor Bob Solon.

The church, Beebe's family, and the community of Independence are all helping Beebe raise the more than $16,000 he needs to go on "The World Race."

"God has us here on this earth to make this place better, and so I'm excited to see Josh doing that," said Solon.

The 23-year-old is getting good at putting up a tent. He's also packing light, less than 50 pounds of gear for the next year.

"I really want to inspire others to go and do big things as well. Whether it's going to 11 countries in 11 months or just taking a little bit of time out of their day to do something nice for someone," said Beebe.

Joshua Beebe said he's excited to live out his faith during the next 11 months. He plans to blog about what he sees and what he learns about others around the world.

Part of Beebe's journey will take him to Nepal, India, and Swaziland. You can follow along by clicking here.
