Broken glass clean-up closes Cherry Hill Aquatic Center

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is closing Cherry Hill Aquatic Center for maintenance after glass broke and entered the pool in the five and six feet depths; it's expected to reopen on either Wednesday, June 25 or Thursday, June 26.

Safety regulations require that the pool be drained so glass can be taken out and the pool can be cleaned; this pool takes between four and six days to drain and refill.

The Longest Day of Summer swimming event scheduled for Saturday, June 21 from 1:00 - 10:00 p.m. is rescheduled for the following Saturday at the same time.

Families involved in swimming lessons will be contacted by staff about scheduling changes.
