Sister helps save 8-year-old Waterloo boy from floodwaters

WATERLOO (KWWL) - There were some scary moments Thursday night for an 8-year-old Waterloo boy.

Waterloo Fire and Rescue pulled Charlie Cizek from flood waters at Bontrager Park, where the youngster had fallen in near one of the concrete intake drains.

Charlie's sister, 10-year-old Caly, held on to her brother until firefighters arrived and pulled him to safety.

Bontrager Park becomes a water collection basin during heavy rains, and the swift current creates quite a suction at the small, concrete culvert draining into Dry Run Creek.

Paramedics examined Charlie at the scene and he walked away with no injuries.
