Dubuque, Asbury warn of sanitary sewer overflows

Two cities are warning citizens to avoid possibly contaminated areas, following sanitary sewer overflows due to heavy rains.

The warnings came out Thursday.

Dubuque reported sanitary sewer overflows on West Locust Street, Rosedale Avenue, Pulpit Rock Lane and North Booth Street around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. The city advises residents to keep kids and pets away from those streets for 48 hours. Anybody with questions can call Dubuque's Public Works Department at 563-589-4250.

Asbury reported a similar overflow at its Northwest Lift Station in the area of the Chloie Branch stream of the Little Maquoketa River. The city asks residents and their pets to stay away from the stream for 48 hours. Anybody with questions can call Asbury City Hall at 563-556-7106.
