UPDATE: Mystique Casino back up and running after power outage

Posted: Updated:
DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Mystique Casino in Dubuque is back up and running, after a brief and localized power outage that lasted a few hours late Thursday morning into the early afternoon.

Original Story:

A power outage has temporarily closed the Mystique Casino in Dubuque on Thursday morning.

Jesus Aviles, CEO of Mystique, says the outage only impacts them as other businesses in the area have power.

Staff is currently working to restore power and they hope to have it back on in about an hour.

Aviles tells KWWL that, because they have no power, they can't operate their security system. According to Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission rules, the casino can't operate without a security system.

KWWL's Becca Habegger contributed to this story.
