Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The Iowa City Transit Division is offering free bus rides on Friday as part of rider appreciation day; the free rides will be on all fixed transit routes for "Ride Transit Week."

The "Ride Transit Week" campaign aims to promote riding the bus; it's put on by the Iowa Public Transit Association, the Iowa Department of Transportation, and public transit systems. Coralville Transit is also sponsoring free rides on Friday.

Last year, Iowa City Transit provided nearly 2 million trips over about 1 million miles.
