WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo man's death is still being labeled as suspicious pending the results of an autopsy.

Waterloo Police Lt. Michael McNamee said investigators are still trying to determine how 69 year-old Dennis Washburn died.

Family members believe the veteran was beaten up and left for dead early in the morning on Memorial Day.

However, police have not ruled his death a homicide because they say they don't have enough information to do so.

McNamee said they're still waiting for autopsy results, but he hopes to have them back in the next week or two.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or leave an anonymous tip with Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers: 855-300-TIPS (8477)
