World Cup Fever in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

USA! USA!"

Jammed in shoulder to shoulder -- these United State's fans at Donnelly's Pub in Iowa City only needed 34 seconds to go crazy

the fastest goal in U-S World Cup history mirrors the meteoric rise in fan interest -- Chad Dotterrer -- Vice President of the Iowa City chapter of the American Outlaws -- a U-S supporters group with more than 20-thousand members nationwide -- has seen it first hand --

"USA! USA!"

"To see what we've got here, it's unbelievable how much the sport has grown and how much the American Outlaws has grown.

and Iowa City isn't the only Eastern Iowa city experiencing World Cup Fever.

"Here at Jersey's Pub in Cedar Rapids, you can see there's a little bit more breathing room back there, but this crowd is filling up 2 rooms, nearly 200 people. It's clear World Cup fever is alive and well in Eastern Iowa."

"We've been promoting this like crazy whether it was handing out fliers or on social media or really just word of mouth. We definitely did not think this many people would show up."

but show up they did -- many official members of the American Outlaws -- others just loyal U-S fans -- and Cedar Rapids A-O vice president Zach Schladetzky says the affiliation doesn't matter.

"What we've kind of been telling people is we'd like you to join, but we'd love for you to come out and watch games with us."

And if the U-S keeps winning -- you can expect the crowds to get even bigger -- a late goal to beat Ghana on Monday has hopes skyrocketing

"I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN! I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!"
