Registration open for annual Mississippi River Adventure Day

Kids: Get ready for a Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn kind of day on the Mississippi River.

It's all coming up on Tuesday, July 15, when the non-profit organization, Friends of Pool 9, sponsors the annual 'Mississippi River Adventure Day' for kids ages, 5-13.

The registration deadline is July 1. Parents must pre-register their children for this event by July 1, going online at;

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Water, life jackets, lunch and travel are all paid for by Friends of Pool 9.

Participants will meet at the Lansing Baseball diamond for check-in at 8:00 am on July 15. The event will last until 2:45 that July 15 afternoon.

Some 120 kids and parents will learn more about the Mississippi River and its ecosystem, all courtesy of Friends of Pool 9, based in the Lansing area.

The event is sponsored by Allamakee County Conservation, Clayton County Conservation, Dairyland Power Cooperative, Genoa National Fish Hatchery, The United States Fish & Wildlife Service La Crosse Fisheries, United States Fish & Wildlife Service McGregor and Friends of Pool 9.
