EF1 tornado confirmed in Buchanan and Delaware Counties Monday

BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) - The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that a line of thunderstorms produced an EF1 tornado from four miles south of Lamont to Edgewood in Buchanan and Delaware Counties.

According to a National Weather Service survey team, wind speeds reached 95 mph and the tornado was 50 yards wide.

It formed at 9:30 p.m. four miles south of Lamont and continued north of Manchester for 17 miles to northeastern Edgewood, ending at 9:55 p.m. Most of the damage was south and east of Dundee into south Edgewood.

Several grain bins collapsed or were destroyed and two old hog confinements were seriously damaged. Numerous trees were snapped in the tornado's path.

The tornado was one of several that ripped through parts of the KWWL viewing area Monday night, including two each in Clarksville and Platteville, Wis.
