Jo Daviess County cooling stations available

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. (KWWL) - Many residents in northwestern Illinois are still without power today due to storm damage from late last night into early this morning.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office says ComEd estimates having power restored sometime tonight.

In Iowa, 997 Alliant Energy customers in Johnson County and 954 in Linn County are without power

Meanwhile, Jo Daviess County emergency services have set up temporary cooling stations in the area due to the high heat and humidity.

Locations include Scales Mound Fire Department, Apple River Fire Department, Elizabeth Fire Department, Warren Ambulance and Stockton Ambulance.

Fresh water will also be provided and residents are asked to bring their own containers.

Those aware of any individuals with special needs, such as the elderly, are asked to check on them throughout the day or call the local police agency for assistance.
