MT. VERNON (KWWL) - The Linn County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two people killed in a four vehicle crash on Highway 1, just north of Mt. Vernon on Monday.

Lieutenant Greg McGivern says 33-year-old David J. Hultquist and his passenger, 23-year-old Skyler G. Darrow, both of Martelle, died as a result of the accident.

Deputies were called to Highway 1, just south of Abbe Hills Road, at around 4:12 p.m. Monday for a crash involving four vehicles.

They say three cars were stopped in a construction zone when an SUV rear ended the last car in line, causing a chain reaction. Hultquist and Darrow were in the car that was initially hit by the SUV.

The driver of the SUV, 44-year-old Kimberly J. Sargent, along with a 12-year-old and nine-year-old, all of Platteville, Wisconsin, were taken to Mercy Medical Center.

The drivers of the other cars were not injured.

McGivern says charges are pending and the accident remains under investigation.
