Costner, other stars play ball at Field of Dreams

Thousands made their way to Dyersville this weekend to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie, "Field of Dreams." Some of the movie's stars, such as Kevin Costner, Dwier Brown and Tim Busfield, were at the field over the weekend.

Saturday, the stars talked to the public about what it was like filming "Field of Dreams" 25 years ago.

"Our live producer was smart enough, and I don't think they have ever allowed it since, he insured the corn. So the insurance company had to pay for the irrigation for our corn. It was probably worth $10-15 an ear. Everything was dead, flies were everywhere and it was 100 degree heat," Busfield said.

"There were issues over Shoeless Joe hitting right vs. left, but ultimately the movie won out. Sometimes details float away when your emotions get the best of you," Costner said.

Later, the stars joined other celebrities in a game of baseball on the field.

John Ketelson made his way to the movie site from Illinois with his son. The pair played catch on the field before the celebrity game. It was the first time the father and son had been to the field.

"It's a great reason for us to get out and see the field," Ketelson said.

Jim Bruzek also made his way to the Field of Dreams with his family on Saturday. He said his family loves both baseball and softball.

"It's why we are here. It's a nice sunny day," Bruzek said.

Before the celebrity game began, Dyersville mayor Alan Haas declared the third weekend in June a weekend to celebrate the Field of Dreams.
