UPDATE: Cedar Rapids man dead after Friday semi crash

SPRINGVILLE (KWWL) - A Cedar Rapids man has died of injuries sustained in a collision with a semi on Friday.

Todd Meeks, 44, of Cedar Rapids, died at 5:44 a.m. Monday from injuries sustained when his GMC van hit a semi.

Both vehicles were southbound on Hwy. 151 just after 4 p.m. Friday when the crash occurred.



Authorities in Linn County are investigating a crash on Highway 151 in Springville.

Sgt. Harvey Hall said it happened south of Wendling Lane shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday when the driver of a van hit a semi.

According to authorities, both vehicles were heading southbound on Highway 151.

Hall said the driver of the van was Todd Meeks, 44, of Cedar Rapids.

Authorities say the driver of the semi was not hurt, but Meeks sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance.

No condition update was immediately available.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
