UNI designs Special Olympic National Games torch

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - Students from the University of Northern Iowa had an important role in this year's 2014 Special Olympics National Games.

UNI's Public Art Incubator was asked to create the Olympic torch. This is the second torch they have made for the games.

This years design allows athletes to carry and attach different pieces to the torch at the opening ceremonies.

Nearly 3,500 athletes will compete in Newark, N.J. starting Saturday.
