Cedar Rapids rebuilds this week, 6th anniversary of 2008 floods

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - There's a flurry of activity this week on one Cedar Rapids block that was damaged by the floods of 2008.

The Greater Cedar Rapids Area Home Builders Association and Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity are joining forces for the Home Builders Blitz.

Workers will build three homes over the course of the week. The homes are located on G Avenue NW. They're being built on lots that flooded in 2008.

On Friday there will be a dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. The new homeowners will receive their keys.

Friday also marks the sixth anniversary of the Cedar River cresting at a record level of 31.12 feet in Cedar Rapids.
