Iowa lawmakers question Veterans Home renovation work

MARSHALLTOWN (KWWL) -

Iowa lawmakers are questioning renovation work at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

An oversight committee met Monday to look at how bids were awarded for renovations to the state-run nursing home.

The initial contract was priced at $65,000 in 2011, but those prices ballooned to $2.6 million.

Seven people were scheduled to testify. Five of the witnesses were subpoenaed.

This is the first time people have been called before the committee by subpoena.
