Athletes tackle Accel Triathlon

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -
Athletes were out in Waterloo Sunday for the Accel Triathlon at George Wyth State Park. It's the second year for the event, which features athletes of several age groups. The participants had to swim, bike and then run before crossing the finish line. One competitor said it is not as hard as it looks and encourages people to try a triathlon.
"It's not really hard, it's all about doing your best and it's less about finishing fast than it is just to finish," said Eamonn McCullough, who finished the triathlon Sunday.  "So get out there and do one."
The triathlon had two different categories; the Olympic and Sprint.  The Sprint is the shorter version but still featured a 500 meter swim, nearly a 16 mile bike ride and a more than three mile run.
