DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
The Belmont Stakes brought a bigger than usual crowd to Mystique Casino in Dubuque.
The casino is one of a few spots around the state of Iowa where you can bet on horse racing. The luster of California Chrome being the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 36 years meant more people betting on the race.
Randy Fenwick lives in Wisconsin. He spent the day at Mystique with some friends betting on the Belmont and other races.
"I'm having a little luck here and there, but my buddy is being cheap and losing on a few here and there," Fenwick said laughing.
Mystique Casino employees say the race drew a larger crowd to Mystique to both watch and bet than other recent races.
