CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Rep. Pat Murphy, who received the Democratic nomination for Iowa's First Congressional District in Tuesday's primary, will be endorsed by four former candidates Friday morning in Cedar Rapids.

Democrats Dave O'Brien, Swati Dandekar, Anesa Kajtazovic and Monica Vernon will all endorse Rep. Murphy. The four candidates competed in the race to be nominated for the First District seat, but lost to Rep. Murphy earlier this week.

Murphy, of Dubuque, has been a state representative since 1989, and served as Speaker of the Iowa House from 2007 to 2011.

The endorsement announcement is expected to take place at the Iowa Democratic Party's Office in Cedar Rapids at 10 a.m. Friday.
