RAGBRAI officials and volunteers are testing this summer's route this week.

The test ride is an inspection of the 418-mile trek across the state 50 days prior to RAGBRAI.

Retired RAGBRAI director Jim Green and RIDE RIGHT Chairman Dan McKay are leading the inspection, like they have for the past 10 years. They are joined by 25 other experienced bicyclists.

The group is reporting on road conditions that may be a problem for riders as well as pointing out areas of interest for riders. Those notes of interest are posted online at www.ragbrai.com

You can also follow the pre-ride adventure and learn interesting tidbits about the route by following on Facebook.com/RAGBRAI or on @RAGBRAI_IOWA and @TJRAGBRAI on Twitter.

The test ride started Sunday in Rock Valley and continues through Saturday, ending in Guttenberg. Bicyclists can be seen Thursday riding from Mason City to Waverly, Friday riding from Waverly to Independence and Saturday riding from Independence to Guttenberg.
