Korea, Vietnam veteran receives posthumous medals

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The family of a veteran who served in Korea and Vietnam finally has his medals.

Hugh Hubbard served in the army for more than 20 years, earning several medals, but he never received them.

Hubbard died in 2009, but his family continued the effort to the medals for the family -- an effort which ended Monday.

"He was a great soldier," said Rodney Clarke, Hubbard's son-in-law. "He was a great father-in-law. He served six tours in Vietnam with the Special Forces from 1962-1972."

Monday marked the 49th anniversary of a Vietnam battle which Hubbard fought in -- leading to him being awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device.
