HUDSON (KWWL) -

A Jesup man is in the hospital following a shooting Saturday night in Hudson.

Black Hawk County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home southeast of Hudson just after 10:15 Saturday night for the report of shooting.

After an initial investigation, deputies learned four subjects had been coyote hunting and had returned to the residence.

One of the men pointed his shotgun in the direction of another subject and the gun discharged, shooting 18-year-old Alex Bratten in the shoulder.

Bratten was initially taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, before being transported to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. His injuries are described as serious, but he is expected to survive.

The case remains under investigation.
