No butts about it: Iowa City cleaning up litter with new grant

Posted: Updated:
IOWA CITY (KWWL) - Iowa City is trying to clean up downtown -- one cigarette butt at a time.

The Iowa City Downtown District recently received a $2,000 Keep America Beautiful Cigarette Litter Prevention Grant.

This is the second year in a row the district has received this grant.

Last year, the district used the money to help enforce litter laws, including cigarettes, raise awareness of the issue, add more ash receptacles, and distribute pocket ashtrays.

This year, the grant will help fund community engagement and more ash receptacles.
