A native of Strawberry Point, Jerry Gallagher graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in electronic media and worked for a time at KWWL as an intern in both news and sports.

Gallagher went on to reporting and anchoring duties in Sioux City, and served as an assistant news director and anchor at KWWL’s sister-station in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (WQOW).

Gallagher received an EMMY nomination for his investigative reporting in 2012 and was honored with a Media Award in 2013 from the Wisconsin Public Health Association.

Gallagher met his wife, Kelly (also an Eastern Iowa native), while attending UNI.

Gallagher comes from a family of journalists, with his brother, Tim, working as a columnist for the Sioux City Journal.

In his free time, Gallagher, his wife and their four children enjoy both playing and watching sports, cheering on the Hawks and UNI.

Gallagher joined KWWL in June of 2014.
