Herbfest 2014 set for June in Dubuque

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Herbfest 2014 will be held Sunday, June 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Dubuque's Arboretum, located at 3800 Arboretum Drive.

The event is hosted by the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and the Herb Society of Dubuque. It's free and open to the public.

Schedule of Events for Herbfest 2014:

10:00-Noon: Hosted Herb Garden Tours

Featuring fun facts and useful information about the plants we grow in the formal Herb Garden

10:00-1:00: Tasty Tidbits on the Porch

Tickle your taste buds with herbal foods prepared by members of The Herb Society

10:00-1:30: Silent Auction and Handcrafted Herbal Items Sale (McKay Plaza)

Bid on beautiful baskets; plants, vinegars, jellies, lavender, skin creams and more for sale

Noon-1:00: Adult Workshop: "Celebrating Artemisia" (Garden Room)

Herbal wreath demonstration and making natural moth bags

1:00-2:00 (or while supplies last): Kid's Workshop: "Flower and Herb Pounding"

Creating pictures,note cardss, and bookmarks (Children must be accompanied by an adult)

    The first-ever Run the Bases 5K/10K will be hosted by the Cedar Valley SportsPlex on Saturday, August 16. All proceeds will benefit Build Our Ballpark. This event will include all levels of athletes, there will be a mile-long Fun Run at 8 a.m. for kids and families near Young Arena. Then the 5K and 10K races will take off simultaneously at 8:30 a.m. near the SportsPlex.More >>
