Loras College athletic director Bob Quinn resigns

Posted: Updated:
DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Loras College's athletic director Bob Quinn is resigning from his position, effective the end of this academic year, citing personal reasons and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Quinn has served as Loras College's athletic director for five years, during which the program saw many accomplishments. Just in the past year, the men's soccer team ranked third nationally in its division, the women's soccer team ranked 24th nationally, the men's cross country team ranked 32nd nationally and the wrestling team ranked 28th nationally.

Quinn is a 1986 graduate of Loras College.

Current associate director of athletics Denise Udelhofen, a 1990 Loras graduate, will serve as interim athletic director. Head men's and women's soccer coach Dan Rothert, a 1996 Loras College graduate, and head men's basketball coach Greg Gorton will serve as interim assistant athletic directors.

"I hope that everyone felt my passion and benefited from my hard work over the years," Quinn said. "I love the Duhawks and will miss this wonderful institution every day. I will take so many lessons of greatness, pride and excellence to my next professional endeavor."

Soon-to-be interim athletic director Udelhofen said she's excited to take on the responsibilities.

"I look forward to working with a fantastic athletic staff to keep the Duhawk athletic programs moving in a positive direction," Udelhofen said. "An athletic department is a total group effort, and I feel blessed to work with many dedicated, hard-working people. Loras College is a special place, and I enjoy seeing our student-athletes grow throughout their time as a Duhawk."

Udelhofen has served in Loras College's athletic administration for five years. She has also served as head men's and women's golf coach, head softball coach and head volleyball coach.

"I have full confidence in Denise's ability," Loras College vice president of student development Arthur Sunleaf said. "I believe that Denise's experience and dedication, both as a coach and as an athletic administrator, have served the college well. Dan and Greg are highly respected professionals as well. I have full confidence that this will be a seamless transition."

Quinn came to Loras College after working 23 years at Wheaton-Warrenville South High School in Illinois.
