Two Waterloo men arrested after leading police on a short chase

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Two Waterloo men face charges after a chase Saturday night.

It happened just after 9:30 p.m. Waterloo Police Officers tried to make a traffic stop near Broadway Street and Park Road for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle led officers on a short pursuit before abruptly stopping near Harrison Street and Logan Avenue.

Officers with the Waterloo Police Department said 30-year-old Dennis Brown Junior and a passenger, 28-year-old Antonio Evans, ran from the scene.

Officers chased the men. Brown was tased while officers tried to get him into custody. Police said Brown also dropped a handgun on the ground as he tried to get out of the vehicle, which was recovered by officers.

Brown is charged with possession of a firearm as a felon, eluding, and interference with official acts.

Antonio Evans is charged with aiding and abetting interference with official acts involving a firearm.

Both men were taken to the Black Hawk County jail.
