PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -

Saturday, hundreds of people in Parkersburg marked the 6th anniversary of the 2008 as the Race of Remembrance took place.  It features 2 events, the EF-5K and the Ed Thomas 10K.

The event has grown every year.

This year, the run will raise somewhere between $4-6,000 which will help buy a new fire truck for the Parkersburg fire department.

"We always have time to step back and reflect about all the things that happened to our community and a nice time to step back and remember things that have happened in the past, I also think its a great time to put a little volunteerism into giving back to your local community," said race director Adam Hoogestraat.

Over the past 5 years, the race has raised a little more than $46,00 for community projects.
