PARKERSBURG (KWWL) - The Aplington father who took his daughter with special needs to prom last month has died.

KWWL introduced you to the Sivola family after Eddie Sivola, while battling a third round of cancer, took his daughter to the Aplington-Parkersburg prom.

Both of them in wheelchairs, Sivola told KWWL he wouldn't miss the opportunity to take his daughter to a dance.

Eddie Sivola's wife, Susan, posted on the family's CaringBridge website that he died at approximately 6 a.m. Friday.

"He died peacefully and comfortably in our home," Susan wrote.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, at Parkersburg United Methodist Church at 4 p.m.

Susan said her husband preferred no one had to miss work to attend.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday at Parkersburg Methodist Church from 4-8 p.m.
