IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested in connection with an Iowa City shooting that happened last weekend.

Sergeant Vicki Lalla says 19-year-old Daquan Damen Jefferson, also known as "Cutthroat" was arrested early Thursday morning in connection with the shooting that occurred on Davis Street on May 18th.

Jefferson, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant, is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent and reckless use of a firearm.

Police were called to to the 2100 block of Davis Street at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday for a report of multiple gunshots in the area. Officers found multiple shell casings, but say no one was injured.

According to the criminal complaints, Jefferson arrived in the area during a fight. Police say that as people left the scene on foot and in vehicles, one vehicle hit the vehicle that Jefferson was in. They say Jefferson then got out and fired shots from a handgun, hitting a parked vehicle and a stop sign.

Officers say Jefferson denied being in Iowa City that day, but say a witness identified him as the shooter and surveillance video shows him being in Iowa City before the shooting.
