Cedar Rapids Police: Ask for licenses during door-to-door sales

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The Cedar Rapids Police Department is reminding residents that they must have a license to go door-to-door selling items.

Police do background checks before they and the City Clerk approve the application.

This comes after police received multiple complaints from residents, claiming people have tried selling lawn products, cable products and alarm systems.

Police say residents should feel free to ask to see a person's license. They also remind you that you should not feel forced to answer the door.

To avoid being scammed, police say you should only write checks to businesses and not to individuals.
