WATERLOO (KWWL) - A "portable" meth lab is being blamed for an apartment fire in Waterloo Tuesday afternoon.

Waterloo police were called to an apartment in the 200 block of Brookeridge Drive at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a fire in one unit.

The Tri-County Drug Enforcement say officials found a plastic bottle containing the ingredients necessary to make meth. This method of cooking methamphetamine is also referred to as the "one pot method".

Two people were in the home at the time. 51-year-old Andy Archambault was transported to Covenant Medical Center and later air lifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. His condition is unknown at this time.

Forty-seven-year-old Andrea Archambault was uninjured in the incident.

The fire remains under investigation.
