APLINGTON (KWWL) - No buses were damaged Tuesday afternoon when a fire broke out in the Aplington-Parkersburg bus garage.

John Thompson, the Aplington-Parkersburg superintendent, said he received a call just after noon that there was a fire at the garage.

He says heat from a recently-used lawnmower caused some other items in the garage to ignite.

One custodian was knocked to the ground as the fire spread. He was treated at the scene for a minor burn on his arm.

Thompson says no buses were damaged, but they did lose a tractor, some lawnmowers and some snow blowers.

No one was seriously injured, which Thompson says he is most thankful for.

Brian Buseman, the middle school principal, told Thompson that the Aplington Fire Department arrived in less than 10 minutes and had the fire out quickly. Thompson says the Parkersburg Fire Department also responded.
