Historic building moving for new developments

Posted: Updated:
CORALVILLE (KWWL) - One of Coralville's oldest buildings will be moving to make way for new development in the city.

Work has already begun as the city will move the 130-year old, Old Town Hall to a lot about a block away as Coralville prepares for the new development bringing commercial space and residential living.

"We think it's really important to the history of Coralville, it's 130-years-old, it's been a church, it's been a city hall, it's been the police station, it's been a lot of various things and private commercial things," said city engineer Dan Holderness. "So we just think it's a really important part of the history of Coralville."

It's not the first time the building has relocated. It was actually moved about 15 years ago.

Old Town Hall will be moved with a low-bed truck Tuesday morning.
