USPS names Iowa cities among worst for dog attacks

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Some Iowa cities among the worst in the nation for dog attacks, at least according to the United States Postal Service.

USPS released its list of the top 30 dog attack cities and Cedar Rapids and Des Moines both made the list. Dogs attacked 11 postal employees in each of those cities last year, tying them at 30 on the list.

Some cities saw the same number of dog attacks, therefore tying ranks, meaning 62 cities made the list of the top 30 worst cities.

The USPS asks that people keep their dogs in separate rooms away from doors when letter carriers deliver the mail.

If a letter carrier feels threatened by a dog, the owner may be asked to pick up his or her mail from the Post Office.
