IOWA CITY (KWWL) -
Early voting is underway in Johnson County. Sunday, it included the county's first ever votemobile.
The Johnson County Auditor's Office set up a satellite voting site at the First Avenue Hy-Vee in Iowa City.
It's the only one planned in Johnson County before the June 3 primary elections.
Elections officials say having this option makes it more convenient for voters to cast their ballots.
"I think it's quite important to see if we can have alternatives to the actual satellite voting we've had in the past, where this is a trial basis. Fortunately the weather has turned out gorgeous today," said LaVonna Gaunt, a precinct election official.
If everything goes well, and there are enough voters, the auditor's office hopes to expand the votemobile sites for the general election in November.
