Attorney expects New Hampton student's rape kit by next week

Posted: Updated:
NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) - The attorney hired to represent a New Hampton High School student told KWWL the teen's rape kit has to be processed by next Friday, May 23.

Attorney Jason Abraham from Hupy and Abraham said his client was sodomized and raped by a peer in the boys' locker room at New Hampton High School on March 24.

New Hampton Police confirm a rape kit was completed from the reported sexual assault at the high school and sent to the state crime lab in Ankeny for processing.

According to Abraham, Iowa law requires juvenile cases to be processed by crime lab officials within 60 days.

Abraham said as that deadline approaches, he expects to have more details about the reported sexual assault.
