WEST UNION (KWWL) - Four construction workers were taken to the hospital Wednesday after the structure they were building in West Union collapsed, sending some falling 30 feet to the ground.

The incident happened Wednesday morning as crews were working to rebuild the Unionland Feed and Supply in West Union. Reconstruction started just two weeks ago.

The walls were framed and workers were adding trusses to the structure when it collapsed. The top of the trusses extended 25-30 feet above the ground, according to the West Union Fire Chief.

All four workers are being treated for injuries at area hospitals, but West Union Police Chief Brent Parker said they're expected to be OK.

He said Thursday he doesn't know when names of the workers will be released.

The West Union Fire Chief said the incident is still under investigation and officials aren't sure what caused the collapse.

Unionland was being rebuilt after the business and an adjacent bar burned in November 2013.
