Taser used on former Hawkeye

Posted: Updated:
OSKALOOSA (KWWL) -

Police used a Taser on a former Hawkeye football star.

Oskaloosa police say 25-year-old Tyler Sash is charged with interference with official acts and public intoxication following an incident on Saturday.

According to the criminal complaint, Sash was driving on his scooter without his lights on when police attempted to pull him over. Police say Sash refused and kept driving; eventually he ditched his scooter and started running. Sash allegedly hid behind a tree, and when he refused to follow police demands, police used a Taser.

Police also say Sash physically resisted as police placed cuffs on his wrists.

Sash played three seasons with the Hawkeyes and was cut by the New York Giants last August.
