New Hampton Police Chief: No comment about rape investigation

Posted: Updated:
NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) - Last week, KWWL broke the story about a reported sexual assault at New Hampton High School -- but there's still no update to the investigation from authorities.

The family hired an attorney, Jason Abraham from Hupy and Abraham, who said a 17-year-old high school student was sodomized and raped by a peer in the boys' locker room.

Last week, New Hampton Police Chief Mike Anderson confirmed his department was investigating a report of a sexual assault at the high school from March 24.

He said a rape kit was completed on March 24 and delivered to the crime lab in Ankeny, but that results were not back yet.

KWWL has kept trying to reach out to Anderson multiple times last week to see if there were any updates on the investigation, but no phone calls were returned until Tuesday morning.

"We have no comment about the investigation," he said Tuesday.
