Bridge repair closes parts of I-380 and U.S. 218

BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

The next phase of bridge repair for Interstate 380 and U.S. 218 north and southbound lanes near the San Marnan interchange in Black Hawk County will begin Tuesday night, weather permitting.

The Iowa Department of Transportation's New Hampton Construction office says it was originally scheduled to start Monday night, but was pushed back because of weather.

Moving the barrier rail will restrict traffic to a single lane in each direction. The Iowa DOT says motorists should expect delays and drivers should consider different routes.

Traffic on southbound I-380 will be down to one lane at 7 p.m. Tuesday night, and northbound traffic on I-380 will go down to one lane at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The lane closures going both directions will last for about two weeks.

The Iowa DOT reminds drivers to proceed with caution and obey posted speed limits and other signs in work areas. They also remind drivers that traffic fines for violations are at least double in work zones.
