BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

Two people are in the hospital following a two-car crash Monday morning.

Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office deputies responded just before 9:15 a.m. Monday to reports of a two-car crash at the intersection of North Elk Run Road and East Cedar Wapsi Road Monday morning.

Deputies say a car driven by John Bliss, 32, of Readlyn was southbound on North Elk Hun Road when a dog jumped onto Bliss' lap, causing him to drive through a stop sign.

Bliss' vehicle then crashed into a car driven by 46-year-old Caroline Ledeboer.

Bliss received cuts and bruises from the collision, while Ledeboer received multiple injuries. Both were taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Bliss was charged with disobeying a stop sign and driving without insurance.
