Gas prices drop more than 5¢ in the past week

Posted: Updated:

A survey of gas prices in the state of Iowa shows average prices have fallen 5.4¢ per gallon in the past week.  The survey done by measures prices of more than 2,000 gas outlets in Iowa, and shows the average price of gas was $3.52 on Sunday.

That's 13.6¢ lower on the same day one year ago and 8.9¢ lower than a month ago.

Things look better as Memorial Day weekend approaches.  In a statement, petroleum analyst Patrick De Haan says, "The national average by Memorial Day will be between 5-10 cents per gallon lower than today, which would represent a nice decrease over where gasoline prices were on Memorial Day 2013."
