Children, teens encouraged to audition for 'Wizard of Oz'

Young Footliters are looking for children and teens to audition for the July 25-27 musical production The Wizard of Oz.

Auditions are Saturday, May 17 from 9am-1pm and Sunday, May 18 from 12:30pm-3:30pm in the lower level of the Coralville Public Library.

Children must be entering first grade in the fall in order to be Eligible for auditioning.

The full musical production will feature a large cast of familiar characters, including Dorothy, the Witch, Scarecrow, Lion, and Tin Man, Munchkins and other magical residents of Oz.

Those wanting to audition should prepare 16 bars of a song and bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

Individuals may be asked to do a cold reading as well, and everyone should be prepared to move and learn some basic dance choreography.

Those auditioning are encouraged, but not required, to sing something from The Wizard of Oz.

Auditions are competitive; Young Footliters will cast as many children and teens as feasible but cannot guarantee all will be cast.

Performances are at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts Friday, July 25 through Sunday, July 27. The participation fee will be $75 per actor.
