IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The newest piece of art in the Grant Wood elementary neighborhood in Iowa City showcases A Neighborhood of Seasons.

The project is aimed at creating an inviting entrance to the South Sycamore Trail, while highlighting the diversity of the neighborhood through art.

The two pillars right across from Grant Wood were designed and crafted by a team of a City High students and led by their art teacher.

Some students used the entire summer last year to work on it.

"The magic that happens when we were all working on this project together, and the conversations we have and just the energy flow that happens, it's just really good for everybody," said City High art teacher Jill Harper.

Harper says a total of about 50-75 students helped put the mosaic piece together.

Each panel represents Iowa's four seasons and the activities that you can enjoy on the trail in each of those seasons.
