INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) - An Oelwein man was arrested Tuesday night after police say he stabbed another man in the parking lot of a business in Independence.

Assistant Police Chief Darwin Meyer says officers were called to 710 12th Street NE in Independence just after 8 p.m. Tuesday night for a reported stabbing.

Meyer says 20-year-old Domanick Fowlkes of Oelwein left 28-year-old Justin Robinson's home at 710 12th Street NE. in Independence after the pair got into an argument.

Meyer says Fowlkes stabbed Robinson in the parking lot of a business in the 1200 block of 5th Avenue NE during a confrontation.

Both left the parking lot. Robinson was taken from his home to the Buchanan County Health Center before being flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Fowlkes was found near the intersection of Highway 150 and County Road D-16 by the Iowa State Patrol and the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office.

Fowlkes is charged with disorderly conduct and willful injury.

Meyer says both men are on probation for previous crimes.
